An old town on a hill, a retail park underneath it
Llantrisant is two places. The old town up on the hill, small, historic, mostly residential now. And everything that grew round Talbot Green below it: the retail park, the trading estates, and housing running out towards Pontyclun, Brynsadler and Llanharry. Miskin sits by junction 34, so a lot of this is within easy reach of Cardiff.
For a small business that geography is a problem and an opportunity at once. The chains at Talbot Green take the passing trade, so an independent isn’t competing for someone wandering past. Everything you get comes from somebody deciding to look for you, and that happens in a search box now.
At the same time the area is full of newer housing, people who commute, don’t know the local names and hire whoever shows up first. The businesses I see most here are trades working from a van across Pontyclun, Beddau, Cross Inn and up towards Tonyrefail, plus small professional firms serving a wider patch than they realise.
The word fewest people type is Llantrisant
Almost every search is a trade plus a place, and the place is rarely Llantrisant. People type “electrician Pontyclun”, “gardener Talbot Green”, “accountant Llanharry”. That’s four or five separate searches, and the word most sites lead with is the one hardly anybody uses. Above the websites the map takes the first look, and somebody comparing three builders reads the reviews there before opening a single site.
What works round here
Four or five pages of plain HTML with the words already there. It’s up before a page builder has finished thinking about it, and nothing sits between the visitor and your phone number. I sort the domain, the hosting and the email behind it.
Trades round here get a lot of enquiries after tea and whoever answers first tends to get the job, so the site’s real work is being found and handing people over quickly. Professional firms are a bit different, and what they’re selling against a national one is that a person answers the phone.

Twenty minutes over
I’ll drive over for the first conversation. Quicker to sit with you for an hour and go through the domain, the email, the old site and the photos on your phone than do it by email over a fortnight. If a video call suits you better, we’ll do it that way.
From there it’s messages and the odd call, and I’ll come back when there’s something worth looking at together.
Hosting and email
For most sites I build there's no ongoing hosting cost and no monthly retainer. The domain renews once a year at list price, no commission from me, and it's registered in your name so you can take it elsewhere whenever you want.
Email goes on your own custom domain, setup properly so what you send lands in the inbox rather than the spam folder.
