Websites for small businesses in Llantwit Major.
I'm Huw. I build sites for small businesses and sole traders in Llantwit Major. I can help acquire and setup your domain, the hosting and your custom email.
It's just me, so you deal with the same person the whole way through.
For most sites I build, there's no ongoing monthly cost once it's live, that includes no hosting cost. You'll see some other agencies charge a monthly ongoing fee to keep your site live, with me, you only pay when you actually need something.
- Where I live
- About 25 minutes from Bridgend
- Also covering
- Llantwit Major and the rest of Vale of Glamorgan, including Boverton, St Athan, Llanmaes, Llandow, Wick, Marcross, Monknash, St Donats.
A small town serving a long stretch of coast
Llantwit Major is compact. Narrow streets round the square, a few shops and places to eat, the beach down the hill at Col-huw, and then a run of villages along the Heritage Coast: Wick, Marcross, Monknash, St Donats, with Boverton and Llanmaes on the doorstep. St Athan and the Llandow estate bring in another sort of work again, contractors and suppliers trading with the bigger operations there.
Businesses here serve a wide area with not many people in it. The customer is often ten minutes of country lane away, has never heard of you, and is searching on a phone with one bar. Half the reason a site round here has to be light is that the signal down those lanes isn’t reliable.
Then there’s the visitors. The coast path, the beach and the bays further west bring people through all summer, searching for food, parking, dog friendly places and somewhere to stay while they’re already out and about.
Village plus trade
Nearly every search here is a place and a trade, using village names. “Builder Llantwit Major”, “dog groomer near St Athan”, “cafe Wick”. Google puts up a map of three businesses first and the websites underneath. It’s a small enough community that reviews carry real weight as well, because people recognise the names in them.
The site
Three to five pages of plain HTML, quick on a bad connection, your phone number tappable at the top of every one. No page builder, no cookie banner covering the screen, nothing that has to run before the words appear. The domain, the hosting and the email behind it are mine to sort out.
Most of the enquiries round here land at nine at night from somebody sat at home, so getting them to your inbox intact matters more than anything clever. If you already pay for a booking system or a shop platform that works, I’ll link the site to it rather than charge you to build a worse one.
Coming over
Llantwit’s about twenty-five minutes from me, close enough that I’ll drive over for the first conversation and come back when there’s something worth looking at together. Sitting in your place with your phone on the table gets me the photos and the real questions faster than any amount of email.
Between visits it’s messages and calls. If something goes wrong later you’re contacting a person in the next county who can drive down.
Hosting and email
For most sites I build there's no ongoing hosting cost and no monthly retainer. The domain renews once a year at list price, no commission from me, and it's registered in your name so you can take it elsewhere whenever you want.
Email goes on your own custom domain, setup properly so what you send lands in the inbox rather than the spam folder.
What I'd build for a business in Llantwit Major
These read differently depending on the trade, so there's a page for each with the searches your customers make and what the site has to do about them.
See where your site stands first
Put your address into the free check and it tells you where the site's hosted, what it's built with, what a search engine actually gets and whether your email is setup right. Takes about ten seconds, nothing is installed and nothing on your site is touched. Run the free check.
If you'd rather read about how I build first, here's the web design page, and here are five things to ask anyone quoting you. You can also see everywhere else I work.
Tell me what you need in Llantwit Major.
Say what you're trying to achieve and I'll tell you what I'd do, including when the answer is you don't need a new site at all.
