Websites for bakeries.

I'm Huw. I build sites for bakeries and other small businesses around Bridgend and South Wales. I can help acquire and setup your domain, the hosting and your custom email.

It's just me, so you deal with the same person the whole way through.

For most sites I build, there's no ongoing monthly cost once it's live, that includes no hosting cost. You'll see some other agencies charge a monthly ongoing fee to keep your site live, with me, you only pay when you actually need something.

I'm in Bridgend, working across South Wales and remotely anywhere in the UK.

What your customers type

The searches worth turning up for. Each one wants something slightly different from the page it lands on.

  • birthday cake ideas
  • christening cake ideas
  • wedding cake prices UK
  • how much does a wedding cake cost
  • how far in advance to order a birthday cake
  • wedding cake tasting near me
  • gluten free birthday cake Bridgend
  • number cake near me
  • brownie boxes delivered
  • birthday cake maker Bridgend
  • sourdough bakery near me
  • cake order collection Saturday

Two clocks run on the same site

Someone ordering a christening cake is searching in March for a date in May. They’ll spend twenty minutes comparing photographs, reading about flavours and working out whether you can do the thing they saw on Pinterest. Someone after a loaf is searching on a Saturday morning to find out whether you’re open and whether there’s anything left. Same business, two people who want completely different things in completely different amounts of time.

The bits people won’t ring up and ask

The wedding customer is pricing you against a figure they read somewhere and can’t check, so saying nothing about money loses the enquiry rather than protecting the quote. The birthday one searching “how far in advance to order” is really asking whether they’ve left it too late. And a parent buying for a coeliac child would far rather read your allergens than ring and ask, which is why that page gets more traffic than anyone expects. Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day and the fortnight before every school holiday all spike, and they spike on the same days every year.

Registered, and rated

Home bakers register with their council’s environmental health team, and once you’ve been inspected the hygiene rating is the easiest trust signal you own.

What I’d do for you

Ready Set Bake is my own platform, built for taking cake orders with collection slots and stock counts, so I’ve spent longer than most working out how this trade gets found. The first meeting is me going through your two sorts of customer, the one planning in March and the one stood outside on a Saturday, and what each of them wants. Then a scope and a price, and I’ll say honestly if the platform does more for you than a site would.

The build, your email and your Google profile

Most of these sites are static: plain files on a server, nothing to log into, no plugin sat there waiting to be patched. They load quickly on a phone with two bars of signal, and for most of them there's no ongoing hosting cost. No monthly retainer, and the domain renews once a year at list price in your name with no commission from me. If you'd rather edit the pages yourself I'll build you something you can edit, and tell you what it costs to run before we start.

Email goes on your own custom domain, setup properly so your quotes, invoices and confirmations land in the inbox rather than the spam folder.

Then the Google Business Profile, which on a phone often sits above every website on the screen. I go through yours with you and get it agreeing with the site, because when the two disagree they stop being read as the same business.

What I'd build for bakeries in your town

The job is the same wherever you are. What changes is which town and village names belong on the page, that's what people type.

See where your site stands first

Put your address into the free check and it tells you where the site's hosted, what it's built with, what a search engine actually gets and whether your email is setup right. Takes about ten seconds and nothing on your site is touched. Run the free check.

If the email records come back failing, that's worth reading about on its own. If it's the site, here's how I build them, and here are five things to ask anyone quoting you.

Tell me about the business.

Say what you're trying to achieve and I'll tell you what I'd do, including when the answer is an hour on your Google Business Profile would do more than a new site.
