Websites for decorators.

I'm Huw. I build sites for decorators and other small businesses around Bridgend and South Wales. I can help acquire and setup your domain, the hosting and your custom email.

It's just me, so you deal with the same person the whole way through.

For most sites I build, there's no ongoing monthly cost once it's live, that includes no hosting cost. You'll see some other agencies charge a monthly ongoing fee to keep your site live, with me, you only pay when you actually need something.

I'm in Bridgend, working across South Wales and remotely anywhere in the UK.

What your customers type

The searches worth turning up for. Each one wants something slightly different from the page it lands on.

  • living room colour ideas
  • feature wall ideas
  • kitchen cabinet painting before and after
  • how much to paint a 3 bed house
  • decorator cost per room
  • how long does it take to paint a room
  • do I need to strip wallpaper before painting
  • best exterior masonry paint
  • spraying vs brushing woodwork
  • painter and decorator Bridgend
  • exterior house painting South Wales
  • wallpaper hanger near me

The decision starts with a colour

Somebody spends a fortnight on “living room colour ideas” and “feature wall ideas” before the word decorator enters their head. Then they wonder whether they could do it themselves, work out how long it would take, look up whether the wallpaper has to come off first, and only then start looking for someone. Your site can catch them anywhere on that run, and the earlier you catch them the less you’re being compared on price.

Who you’re talking to

The colour browser is picturing a room, so photographs get read harder than anything written next to them, and painting photographs badly unless the work shows. Kitchen cabinet spraying is a search all of its own and gets browsed the way a new kitchen does. The one typing “decorator cost per room” is planning around being in the house as much as around the money, so how long a three bed takes matters nearly as much as what it comes to. Exterior work is a separate customer on a separate clock, April to October, usually with rendering or fascia bolted on. And behind all of it somebody is wondering how much dust ends up in their living room and not liking to ask.

What I’d do for you

The first meeting is me showing you where your customers come from and what’s on their mind at each point on the way, and then a scope and a price for what I’d build.

The build, your email and your Google profile

Most of these sites are static: plain files on a server, nothing to log into, no plugin sat there waiting to be patched. They load quickly on a phone with two bars of signal, and for most of them there's no ongoing hosting cost. No monthly retainer, and the domain renews once a year at list price in your name with no commission from me. If you'd rather edit the pages yourself I'll build you something you can edit, and tell you what it costs to run before we start.

Email goes on your own custom domain, setup properly so your quotes, invoices and confirmations land in the inbox rather than the spam folder.

Then the Google Business Profile, which on a phone often sits above every website on the screen. I go through yours with you and get it agreeing with the site, because when the two disagree they stop being read as the same business.

What I'd build for decorators in your town

The job is the same wherever you are. What changes is which town and village names belong on the page, that's what people type.

See where your site stands first

Put your address into the free check and it tells you where the site's hosted, what it's built with, what a search engine actually gets and whether your email is setup right. Takes about ten seconds and nothing on your site is touched. Run the free check.

If the email records come back failing, that's worth reading about on its own. If it's the site, here's how I build them, and here are five things to ask anyone quoting you.

Tell me about the business.

Say what you're trying to achieve and I'll tell you what I'd do, including when the answer is an hour on your Google Business Profile would do more than a new site.
